Flu Season
Flu Season for 2024 runs from 1 September – 31 March 25.
- This year general practice and pharmacies will not be paid for any vaccinations in September and have been advised that vaccinations will begin from 3rd October. This is outside of our control.
- However, the new RSV vaccination for over 75-79 and pregnant women over 28 weeks is due to roll out from 1st September. (Respiratory syncytial virus) Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common cause of coughs and colds. It usually gets better by itself, but it can be serious for some babies and older adults. Criteria is below taken from the NHS website: The surgery will be calling patient who meet the criteria asap..
RSV vaccination from September 2024
A vaccine to help protect against RSV will be available on the NHS from 1 September 2024.
You'll be able to get the vaccine if:
- you're aged 75 to 79
- you're 28 weeks pregnant or more – this will help protect your baby for the first few months after they're born
If you're aged 75 to 79, your GP surgery will contact you about getting vaccinated. Please wait to be contacted.
From September, you can speak to your maternity service or GP surgery about getting your RSV vaccination if you're 28 weeks pregnant or more.
Government/NHS dispute/collective action – discussion
- Julie reassured the PPG that the practice will continue to run as previously. The practice will continue to refer as and when necessary.
- The GMC recommendation is that GP contact is capped at 25 per day. The surgery GPs see in a day 22. This is within safe working and below the threshold. It is worth mentioning that our face to face apmts are 15 mins rather than the normal 10 to allow for complex issues to be discussed and after listening to our patients we have decreased our telephone apmts and increased our face to face.
AOB
- Signage for surgery
- Quotations for a new NHS sign are ongoing along with a banner to attract new patients
- Open Day – All felt that another open day would be good to highlight positive changed that are ongoing within the practice. Julie to contact local church and library to consider room hire for a Saturday afternoon.
- Earlsdon Echo
- Julie to reach out to Echo reporter to do positive piece about surgery
